Hreflang

Definition

The hreflang tags are an attribute used to specify the language and geographical targeting of a webpage.  If you have a website that is available in multiple languages, the hreflang attribute is an essential tool for guiding search engines to display your content to the right audience.

Application

We use hreflang tags to indicate pages that have similar meaning but are targeted to different languages and regions. There are three common ways to implement hreflang:

  • Content with regional variations such as en-usa en-gb,
  • Content in different languages such as en, dea fr,
  • Combination of different languages and regional variations.
